Apart from the lake being well known for its carp and roach fishing it also
produces large Wels catfish over 100lbs. The Wels catfish official record comes
from Homersfield lake, caught in 1993 at 49lbs 12oz. Unfortunately, due to illegal
imports, catfish have not been recorded after 1993.
Tench over 13lbs and bream over 15lbs have been caught over the years. It really
is an all round specimen lake.
The lake has been described as “the Jurassic Park of fishing”, meaning
everything grows big. The 35 acre lake is spring fed, making it an exceptional,
bio-diverse water, which creates an abundance of natural food for the fish.
“In my opinion Homersfield Lake from an all rounder point of view has to be one of the best lakes in the country, I doubt there is another lake in the country that has such an impressive stock.”
